Band: Briton Rites

Image
It all began during the Halloween season of 2006 when Cauldron Born guitarist, Howie Bentley, formed his new band Briton Rites. Bentley had been recently inspired by the 1872 J. Sheridan Lefanu novel Carmilla, which told the story of a female vampire who preyed on pretty young girls. His new band would bring to life the ideas and feelings of 19th century gothic horror while combining it with the images and themes of the Hammer films from the 1950s, ‘60s, and ‘70s. Seeking an artistic outlet that combined his passion for dark European literature, the golden era of horror, and heavy music in the style of Black Sabbath and Witchfinder General, Briton Rites was born. Bentley completed the music and lyrics with plans to not only play guitar and bass, but also sing for the band. However, a friend played him a song with Phil Swanson on vox and Bentley immediately recruited him for Briton Rites. The band recorded a demo (including “Carmilla”, and “A Meeting in the Woods") which be

Band: Stonebourne Everything's already said about Grunge, right? The guitars roar raw and unpolished in the tradition of the old heroes. A little bit of drop D, a bit of teenage angst, weltschmerz and a lot of anthemic, energetic rock. This sometimes reminds of the sound somewhere between Pearl Jam or Alice in Chains, but without being just epigonic post-whatever. Emotional lyrics, dynamic songs full of blood, sweat and tears bring the grunge out of the 90s and carry it on to infinity and much further! Shortly after the first EP was released, the songs were rotated on numerous radios in Germany, the USA and UK. Now the long-awaited full-length album “Squirrels On A Plane” with fifteen brand new grunge rockers for the old and new fans follows. Grunge is not dead! Here comes the Ueber-Grunge from Nuremberg “Don’t be surprised if you hear more from or about Stonebourne in the coming months. Squirrels On A Plane could very well launch them onto the global music scene if they play their
